Celebrating Black History Month

Every Saturday in February, CCB will be celebrating history makers within our industry with a series of Instagram takeovers. Tune each each Saturday to learn about these amazing people and the work they are doing behind and beyond the bar.

Black Distillers,Winemakers, Brewers & Creators: Navigating Spaces as an Entrepreneur

This year, during the Chocolate City's Best Cocktail Competition, we  have created a virtual panel discussion “Black Distillers, Winemakers, Brewers & Creators: Navigating Spaces as an Entrepreneur”. The panel’s goal is to examine Black entrepreneurs experiences, and create conversation that will educate and encourage the next generation of BIPOC entrepreneurs in the food and beverage industry.

Empowerment in the Workplace Panel

Chocolate City's Best is working on ways that we can help communities of color in these hard times that are upon us. In our search and planning, we've found that we want to focus on the mental and emotional well being of Black people and POC. We want to especially focus on ways to be prepared mentally and emotionally while entering back into the workforce after many months of being quarantined, many weeks of protesting, and many conversations about anti-racism. With that, we have created the panel: "Empowerment in The Workplace". We have gathered industry professionals that are experts in coaching individuals in ways to empower themselves and amplify their voices in majority white spaces and businesses. We want to help Black people and POC be prepared for entering back into these spaces after the mental work, trauma, and exhaustion of these past few months. We not only want them to be prepared for re-entering the workplace but also be empowered as an employee at all times.

#CapturedCocktails

Captured Cocktails aims to educate and empower both photographers and bar professionals while granting the food and beverage industry employers access to talented people of color. Modern marketers use visual content to promote their businesses and craft. As a result, photography is more relevant and crucial than ever to help business, entrepreneurs, and job seekers stand out in a pool of competitors.

As a service to our community, Chocolate City’s Best production team, led by Naku and Christina Mayo, engage in a barter with food and beverage professionals selected by CCB by way of open invitation. The photographers and industry professional’s exchange takes place on a live social media platform and other video communication applications. The CCB production team demonstrates how to capture aesthetics of your cocktail and brand through the lens. The production team delivers photography tips on subjects such as: use of light, textures, angles, tools to enhance photos audio and videos.

In return the bar professional crafts classic cocktails while exemplifying brand knowledge, cocktail history,  recipes, tips, and technique. With the tools gained from Captured Cocktails, industry professionals and photographers will enhance the use of social media platforms and tech to connect with their audience to build your brand, increase sales, and increase job opportunities.

#GardenToCocktail

Garden to cocktail strives to empower our community to start their own gardens in or around their homes by giving tips about how to keep gardens and house plants healthy.

We invite special guests to speak about their successful gardening journeys and help answer questions that the community may have. A member of Chocolate City's Best then creates their own cocktail creation with an ingredient the guest grows in their gardens.
